Science is that subject that sparks curiosity, invites questions, and inspires exploration. Choosing the right program can make all the difference in your homeschool journey. Here is your chance to really have fun, go on crazy field trips, and dig deep into the amazing world around us. Apologia’s Young Explorers series is a homeschool favourite for elementary and middle school science. There are 8 areas of study to choose from across grades K-6, so you can pick which concepts appeal to you in any given year, or choose what ties in to your other curricula.

Written by Dr. Jay Wile, the author of the original Apologia science series, Berean Builders offers an innovative, hands-on approach to teaching science through history. Mystery of Science is newer science curriculum from Bright Ideas Press. Designed for curious learners in grades 4-8, this program combines inquiry-based lessons with hands-on experiments to help students explore the “how” and “why” behind scientific phenomena.

Whether your kids are fascinated by ecosystems, energy, or engineering, Mystery of Science turns learning into an adventure. The Student Readers contain 32 lessons broken into a 4-day a week schedule, and a download code to access the lab manual. Currently Biology and Physics have both been released, and we are hoping to see more in the coming seasons!

For those looking for a secular approach, My Pals are Here, a highly respected program from Singapore Science, is now available through CHER! This program will give your child a solid foundation in science for grades 1-6, with each grade level consisting of a Teacher’s Guide, Textbook, and Activity Book. Known for its strong problem-solving approach and focus on critical thinking, PAL Science builds a deep understanding of scientific principles while encouraging creativity and exploration.
