This is the first paragraph of Apologia's wonderful new Creative Writing course by author Sharon Watson. Intended as a course for middle school students, ""Jump In"" can also be used by high school students who have had little practice in writing or who are reluctant writers.



""Jump In"" overcomes the reluctant writer's fear of writing by using the following:


* A friendly, approachable style that makes the text easy to read

* A font that is easy on the eye and leaves a lot of white space on the page

* Short, workable exercises each day

* Incremental daily lessons that are easy to understand

* Non-threatening word counts for longer assignments



Students will learn how to write opinions, persuasive papers, many types of expository papers, descriptions, narration, and poetry. Though the text is accessible, it is not dumbed down, but rather is crammed full of useful information.
