Studying movies with your teen is akin to learning to critique literature. This can help to develop the ability to reflect on underlying messages while analyzing them from a moral point of view. Moves in this course had to be well written and filmed effectively to be one of the 17 chosen. Students make inferences, draw conclusions, and identify and interpret figurative language and symbolism as they study character, plot, theme, and various literary and film techniques. Both discussion and composition skills are used extensively. Movies include: Chariotts of Fire; The Maltes Falcon; E.T.; To Kill a Mocking Bird; Henry V; Emma and others.
