New England Primer of 1777
The New England Primer originated in England in the 1500's and made its way to Boston in 1690. The Founding Father's of the United States studied an edition of this book as did their children, and their children's children.
The Primer includes Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, The Lord's Prayer, The Ten Commandments, a rhyming alphabet, a Bible alphabet, two catechisms, Bible questions; a dialouge between Christ, a youth, and the devil; and the words of wisdom a man left to his nine children before being martyed for Christ.
