Keep the Lights Burning Abbie PP
Keep the Lights Burning Abbie PP
This is a true story about Abbie Burgess and her family. In the winter of 1856, Abbie's father, a lighthouse keeper, must leave the island to get badly needed supplies and oil for the lamps. Abbie promises her father that she will keep the lighthouse lights burning in his absence.
A violent winter storm begins, making it impossible for Mr. Burgess to return for four weeks. Abbie remembers her promise and keeps the lighthouse lights burning while she and her sisters care for their sick mother. When her father finally returns he is very proud of Abbie.
