Raleigh's Page
Raleigh's Page
Andrew has grown up hearing stories about America from his teacher and the sailors around Plymouth. The boy's greatest hope is to get to the New World. So his father arranges for Andrew to serve as page to Walter Raleigh, a star in the court of Queen Elizabeth.
Right away, Mr. Raleigh puts Andrew through a series of tests of secrecy, honesty, and wit. Andrew must prove himself fit to join Raleigh's expedition to Roanoke Island. The tests are dangerous, but nothing can prepare Andrew for what awaits him in Virginia.
Brilliantly crafted by Newbery Honor winner Alan Armstrong, Andrew's story is a vivid tale of stealth and spycraft as the Spanish struggle to keep England out of America and as Andrew and his fellow explorers encouter the Native Americans.
